The IRATA System is a safe method of working at height where ropes along with additional pieces of equipment are used to both gain access and to work from supported.

The IRATA courses come in 3 levels and are designed to provide you with basic Level 1 to more advanced skills at Levels 2 & 3, that will enable you to work at height in a safe manner in different environments using a variety of techniques.  All IRATA training levels will consist of 4 days training with 1 day for assessment, this includes revalidation of your IRATA certificate.

IRATA Level 1

For beginners to IRATA rope access, no previous experience is required however a good level of fitness and a head for heights will be needed to sit this course.

At the end of this course, you will be able to perform a range of rope access tasks,  inspect all of your own personal rope access equipment, assist in rigging and able to undertake a rope rescue involving descent.

NOTE: You will not be qualified to supervise others.

Certificate is valid for 3 years

After a minimum of 12 months experience and 1000 hours logged before your certificate expiry date, you can then progress to Level 2 training

 

IRATA Level 2

To level up to IRATA level 2 you must have a minimum of 1000 hours logged in your log book before your certificate expiry date and a minimum of 12 months experience.

The level 2 course will consist of refreshing your level 1 manouvres along with adding new skill set.

At the end of this course you will be capable of rigging working ropes, undertaking rescues, performing rope access tasks and be able to demonstrate some knowledge of safety requirements, legislation and quality assurance procedures that relate to rope access.

After a minimum of 12 months working experience at level 2 and 1000 hours logged in your log book before your certificate expires you can then level up to level 3

 

IRATA Level 3

To level up to level 3 you must have a minimum of 1000 working hours logged in your log book before your certificate expiry date and a minimum of 12 months experience.

Levels 3’s are expected to be up to date with their current certification requirements therefore there will be no refreshing of previous levels over the 4 days training.

At the end of this course you will be capable of supervising rope access projects, demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation and work techniques,  demonstrate all skills and knowledge of both IRATA levels 1 and 2, have advance rope rescue techniques, have knowledge of the IRATA certificateion scheme, TACS and be familiar with the IRATA ICOP.

 

IRATA Revalidation of certificate

IRATA level expire after 3 years and as such will need to be revalidated by further training.  You can take your re-assessment early:  A re-assessment at the same level can be taken up to six months before your current expiry date, the new expiry date will be 3 years from your last assessment expiry date.

Revalidation of your certificate will involve 4 days training and 1 day assessment at your current level.

 

IRATA Refresher

Rope access technicians that haven not been engaged in rope access work for six months or more should attend refresher training.  This is priced per day and will be down to the individual as to how many days refresher training is required.
